DB170 is 1708 without the chopped strand mat. Same 17 oz of +45 and -45 stitched E-glass, same 50 in width, but nothing on the back, which makes it the right pick for epoxy layups where you do not want mat binder in the laminate and do not need the bulk it adds.

Where it goes: epoxy repairs, structural panels, stringer and bulkhead work where you want strength without mat.
Thinner per ply: 0.030 in against 0.044 in for 1708, so the laminate comes out tighter and lighter for the same fiber weight.
Resin demand: roughly 1:1 resin to glass by weight, about 2.0 oz per square foot, close to half what 1708 drinks.
Resin compatibility: epoxy, polyester and vinyl ester.
Cuts: 1 yard, 3 yards, 10 yards and full roll, 50 in wide.

Because there is no mat holding the stitch pattern flat, cut it with sharp shears and handle the edges carefully. Cuts ship rolled on a corrugated tube.

Biaxial fiberglass is a type of fiberglass fabric where the fibers are stitched together in two directions, typically at +45° and -45° angles or 0° and 90°. Unlike woven fiberglass, the fibers in biaxial cloth are not interlaced, but rather laid flat and stitched, which improves strength and drapability.

What is the difference between 1708 and 1808 biaxial fiberglass?

1708 is 17 oz per square yard of E-glass stitched at plus and minus 45 degrees with a 3/4 oz per square foot chopped strand mat backer. 1808 is 18 oz per square yard stitched at 0 and 90 degrees over the same 3/4 oz mat, and builds slightly thicker per ply, about 0.048 inch against 0.044 inch. Both run in polyester, vinyl ester or epoxy.

What is the benefit of using biaxial fiberglass over woven cloth?
