Grit sequence, not one box
Sanding is a sequence and skipping a step shows up in the gloss. The wet and dry packs are graded for that: a Prep and Fair 6-pack for knocking down repairs and fairing compound, a Finish and Polish 6-pack for the passes before compound, or the complete 12-grit set if you want the whole ladder in one order.
Sponges do what paper cannot. 3M sanding sponges in fine and medium conform to a curved hull without cutting flats into it, and the contour sponge in super fine gets into a radius or a corner where a block bridges. The Finish and Fair kit bundles paper with brushes, cups and gloves if you are starting a repair with an empty bench.
