Plastic Spreader

A flexible plastic spreader is the tool for pulling epoxy, polyester, body filler or fairing compound flat across a repair. The blade gives enough to follow the curve of a hull or deck, and when a batch kicks on it you throw it out and grab the next one.

Picking the width

Size the blade to the repair. The 4 in works a narrow gouge or a ding without dragging filler across the good gelcoat around it, the 5 in covers most patch work, and the 6 in skims a wider area in fewer passes. Keep all three within reach.
