Matching and patching gelcoat
A gelcoat patch fails on color, not on chemistry. If the hull is anything but a factory white, start from the neutral base and tint it with the 6 color kit, mixing a test chip and letting it cure first. Pure white kits with wax, hardener and pigments cover the common case, and Evercoat Gel-Kote and Scratch Patch handle small chips.
Two things to know. Gelcoat will not cure tack free against open air unless it has wax in it or you cover it. And gelcoat gets thinned with styrene, not acetone, which is why Hi-Bond styrene sits in this group. Non-skid deck kits come in fine, medium and coarse grit so the patch matches the texture around it.
