5.7oz 3K 2x2 Twill Carbon Fiber Fabric - Discount Short Roll

This is the classic 2x2 twill carbon look, 5.7 oz per square yard on 3K tow, 50 in wide and about 0.010 in thick. The two-over, two-under weave gives the diagonal pattern people buy carbon for, and it conforms into tight areas and over compound curves better than a plain weave of the same weight.

Why it costs less: this is a discount short roll, not a stock item. We buy these rolls when we can get them at the best price, so they can come from different weavers, and once a lot sells out it may not be replaced. For a matched look across a big job, buy all your yardage in one order.

• Where it goes: cosmetic skins, cowlings, interior panels and aftermarket parts where the weave is the finish.
• Drape: twill conforms around radii and compound shapes with less distortion than plain weave.
• Resin demand: roughly 50:50 resin to fiber by weight, about 0.66 oz per square foot.
• Build rate: about 0.010 in per ply.
• Resin compatibility: epoxy, polyester and vinyl ester. Epoxy is the usual choice for clear-coated cosmetic work.
