Our 12.3 oz Plain Weave Carbon Fiber Tape is built for demanding reinforcement applications where maximum strength and durability are essential. Woven from large 12K tows in a balanced over-under plain weave pattern, this heavy-duty tape allows for rapid laminate buildup and exceptional rigidity. Perfect for marine, aerospace, and structural composite projects, it provides superior load-bearing capability while maintaining dimensional stability during layup.

This is the heavy tape of the three: more than twice the weight of the 5.7 oz 3K tape, with strength in both directions from the plain weave, so a stringer wrap or repair band builds thickness in fewer plies. Pick it for structural bands on hulls, stringers, transom knees and beams where the coarse 12K face will be faired or painted rather than shown. When the load runs only lengthwise, the 11 oz unidirectional tape is stiffer per ply; for a fine show weave on tubes and rails, the 5.7 oz 3K plain weave tape. How strong is carbon fiber fabric?

Carbon fiber has a tensile strength around 500,000 psi and is roughly five times stronger than steel by weight, which is why it is used where stiffness and low weight both matter. Real-world laminate strength depends on resin, fiber orientation, and layup quality, so a strong carbon panel comes from good wet-out and proper ply orientation, not the fabric alone.
