Feeding Resin Under Vacuum
Resin infusion pulls resin through dry reinforcement under a sealed bag. Flow media spreads it across the part faster than it can travel through the laminate, spiral tubing carries it along the part, and semi-rigid 1/2 in OD feed line brings it in from the pot and takes the vacuum out to the trap.
The green medium speed mesh comes 42 in wide and the red fast flow 60 in wide, both in 1, 3, 5, 10 and 25 yard cuts or a full roll. Fast media on a large flat panel gets resin to the edges before it gels. Medium media keeps the front from racing past the reinforcement.
Media goes above the peel ply, not against the laminate, so it strips off with the peel ply and stays out of the part. Keep it back from the vacuum line or resin runs straight to the trap. On a part with thickness changes, run media over the thick sections only. Stitched fabrics like 1708 biaxial infuse well because the stitching leaves open paths for the resin.
