This is the heavy tape of the three: more than twice the weight of the 5.7 oz 3K tape, with strength in both directions from the plain weave, so a stringer wrap or repair band builds thickness in fewer plies. Pick it for structural bands on hulls, stringers, transom knees and beams where the coarse 12K face will be faired or painted rather than shown. When the load runs only lengthwise, the 11 oz unidirectional tape is stiffer per ply; for a fine show weave on tubes and rails, the 5.7 oz 3K plain weave tape.
