Gelcoat Spray Gun - Quart Dump Cup Sprayer for Gelcoat & Resin

This air powered dump gun sprays gelcoat into a mold or over a big repair without a catalyst injection rig. Catalyze each batch in a quart paper cup, drop the cup into the gun, spray it empty and throw it out. Acetone and the nozzle brush clean the gun in under five minutes.

Will your compressor keep up?

It draws 5.8 CFM at 80 psi. Check the rating plate on your compressor: below about 6 CFM you get spitting and spatter instead of an even fan, and most small pancake and hot dog compressors come up short.

Spraying gelcoat

It suits tooling gelcoat on a new mold, production molds and hull or deck refinishing with pure white gelcoat, and it also sprays polyester and vinyl ester resin. At about 2% MEKP and 80°F (27°C) a cup gives you roughly 15 to 20 minutes, less in the sun, so mix only what you can spray and stir the MEKP fully in first. Build about 18 to 20 mils wet over 2 or 3 passes. If gelcoat runs too heavy for the #6 nozzle in a cold shop, add styrene a little at a time, 10% at most. Flush acetone through the nozzle after the last cup.
