The lightest of the three carbon tapes and the one with the fine 3K weave you want showing: tube and spar wraps, rail bands, paddle shafts and cosmetic repair bands under clear epoxy. At about 0.010 in per ply it drapes around tight radii the 12K tapes will not. When the band carries real load, step up to the 12.3 oz 12K plain weave tape; when the load runs only lengthwise, use the 11 oz unidirectional tape. All widths in carbon fiber tape.

How strong is carbon fiber fabric?

Carbon fiber has a tensile strength around 500,000 psi and is roughly five times stronger than steel by weight, which is why it is used where stiffness and low weight both matter. Real-world laminate strength depends on resin, fiber orientation, and layup quality, so a strong carbon panel comes from good wet-out and proper ply orientation, not the fabric alone.
