Boat Trailer Bunks
Support the hull, not the keel
Bunks carry the hull; the keel rollers only guide it. Tie Down and CE Smith swivel and bolster brackets let the board pivot to the deadrise, and they come in fixed heights (6 and 8 inch vertical carpet brackets, 8, 10 and 12 inch bolster brackets), so pick the one that puts the board flat against the hull.
Carpet or slicks is the real decision. Bunk board carpet in 11 inch by 12 foot or the 150 foot roll grips the hull and holds the boat put. Bunk slick kits in 1-3/4 and 3 inch let a boat load and launch on a shallow ramp. Roller bunks from CE Smith, Tie Down and Dutton-Lainson come 4 and 5 foot.
