Champion QL76V Spark Plug, Stock No. 898

The Champion QL76V is a surface discharge marine plug, stock number 898. Surface discharge means there is no conventional side electrode gap: the spark travels across the insulator nose face to the shell. That design tolerates the oil-rich, fouling-prone conditions in a two stroke outboard far better than a standard plug, and it is why you cannot gap one.

• Do not try to gap it. Champion publishes no gap figure for the QL76V because the design has none. Bending anything on a surface discharge plug ruins it.
• Copper core center electrode for conductivity and heat control under sustained load.
• 14mm thread, 13/16 in hex, 1/2 in reach, gasket seat, resistor type.
• Resists fouling and is built to shed heat under heavy engine loads.

Check your engine manual and only fit the plug the engine builder specifies. Heat range is not interchangeable between manufacturers, and the wrong plug in a two stroke is an expensive mistake rather than a rough idle.
