Sea Dog "T" Handle Transom Drain Plug

The drain plug you can actually get back out. A T handle gives you leverage with cold, wet hands, and a quarter turn expands the nitrile seal against the drain tube. Turn it clockwise to lock, counterclockwise to release, and it seals without the wedging and hammering a tapered plug needs.

Check the seal every season and keep a spare in the console. A drain plug is a two dollar part that decides whether the boat floats at the ramp. Add it to the pre-launch check and not the pre-launch hope. Tie a lanyard to the T handle so the plug lives with the boat instead of in a glove box.
