Johnson Pump Cartridge Bilge Pump

A direct replacement for the Mayfair cartridge bilge pumps, built so the part that fouls comes out without tools. Lift the tab, twist the cartridge, pull it out: the motor and impeller are one sealed unit with no loose pieces to drop in the bilge while you are upside down over the sole.

Fuse it at the source and run the discharge with a loop above the waterline. A bilge pump that back-siphons is worse than no pump at all. Carry a spare cartridge aboard rather than a spare pump. The base stays wired and plumbed, so a swap at the dock takes a minute.
