Gen3 Marine Dock Cleat

A standard horn cleat with a heavy galvanized finish, sized for small recreational boats and dock edges. The important detail is the edges: they are radiused rather than sharp, so a line under load is not sawing itself apart every time the boat surges against the dock.

• Five sizes: 6, 8, 10, 12 and 14 in. Size the cleat to the line diameter, not to the boat; the line needs room to take a full figure-eight and a locking hitch.
• Galvanized finish for corrosion resistance in salt and fresh water.
• Smooth edges to protect the line from chafe.
• Handles a range of dock line sizes, which is what you want on a dock that sees different boats.

Back it properly. A cleat is only as strong as what is under it, and on a dock or a thin deck that means a backing plate, not just washers. A cleat that pulls through takes a chunk of the deck with it.
