1.7oz Kevlar® Plain Weave Fabric Style 5120/120

The lightest aramid we stock: Kevlar® 49 in a 1.7 oz/yd² plain weave, industry style 120, 38 in wide and about 0.004 in per ply. It is thin enough to add an abrasion and impact layer without adding real weight, which is why it shows up on canoe and kayak skins, model and RC structures, and the outer ply of light laminates that take handling damage.

• Style 120 (vendor 5120), 34 x 34 thread count
• Tensile strength 200 lb/in warp and 200 lb/in fill, dry
• About 0.004 in thick per ply; plan roughly 0.2 oz of mixed resin per square foot
• 38 in wide; use epoxy, and cut it with aramid shears

Aramid floats. Wet it out with a brush and stipple rather than rolling it, or the weave will lift off the substrate before it bonds.
