Skate shape or surf shape

Board choice is skate versus surf. Skate style boards (Phase 5 Diamond Turbo, Hypsta, Fireball) are looser and made for spins and shuvits. Surf style boards (Phase 5 Swell, Liquid Force Reign, Hyperlite Time Machine) hold a line and push down the wave. Phase 5 also runs a kids line, the 40 inch Shrimp and the 36 and 43 inch Snapper.

Length is rider weight, not rider height. A 51 inch Diamond Turbo and a 57 inch are the same board for different riders, and going short behind a small wake makes it worse, not looser. Foil packages (Hyperlite Starship with the MK 1200 or MK 1500, Liquid Force Pod) include the foil kit and are a separate discipline.
