Vinyl Ester Resin

Between polyester and epoxy

Premium vinyl ester resin sold with its hardener in 1 quart, 1 gallon and 5 gallon. Vinyl ester sits between polyester and epoxy, with better elongation and bond strength than polyester and better water resistance, which is why it goes in as a barrier layer on blister work and below the waterline.

It wets out glass and kicks like polyester, so the shop routine is familiar and it laminates fine over cured polyester. What it will not do is bond reliably over cured epoxy, so find out what is already on the hull before you mix a batch. Same handling as any styrene resin: cartridge respirator, nitrile gloves, eye protection.
