Post, base and swivel
A pedestal is three parts that have to agree: the post, the base it plugs into, the swivel on top. Fixed posts (Springfield second generation at 12 and 15 inches, Wise at 6, 9 and 12) are stronger and cost less. Adjustable posts (Attwood Swivl-Eze power pedestal at 13 to 16.5 and 19.5 to 23 inches, Garelick Blue Water pin lock) let one seat work standing and seated.
Post diameter is the number that decides fitment. The marine standard is 2-3/8 inch, with 2-7/8 inch the heavier alternative, so a 2-3/8 inch post rattles in a 2-7/8 inch base, and bushings are sold for both. Check what is already bolted into your deck before ordering a plug in post.
