Vertical or horizontal decides the install. A vertical windlass (Lewmar V1 through V3, Maxwell RC6 and RC8, AnchorLift Mako and Aquarius) puts the motor below deck and needs fall height in the locker. A horizontal (Lewmar Pro-Fish and Pro-Sport, Maxwell HRC10) sits entirely on deck and suits a shallow locker or a retrofit.
The gypsy is the part that has to match, not the boat. These are listed by rode pair, 5/16 inch chain with 5/8 inch rope, or 3/8 inch with 5/8 inch, and the chain has to be the right standard as well as the right size or it skips under load. Budget for switch gear too, since solenoids, foot switches and the breaker are separate parts.
