Narrow 1/2 in chip brushes, 36 to a box. At this width you get real control on detail work: tape edges, corner tabbing, touching in varnish, buttering a small bond line. Natural bristle and a wood handle, cheap enough that you throw them out with the cured resin instead of soaking them in acetone.
- Detail resin work. Wetting out small glass patches and tape, cutting in around hardware and corners.
- Coatings and adhesives. Paint, stain, varnish, glue and construction adhesive all run fine on natural bristle.
- 36 per box. Enough to run a full project without rationing brushes between batches.
- Disposable. No solvent cleanup, no cured bristles in a good brush.
Flex each brush and pull the loose bristles before you dip it. Natural bristle sheds on the first pass, and a stray bristle in a gelcoat repair means grinding it back out.

What kind of brush works with polyester resin and epoxy?
Disposable natural-bristle chip brushes are the shop standard for resin and gelcoat. They are cheap enough to throw away after a batch, and the bristles hold up to the styrene in polyester. Foam brushes work for thin coats and small touch-ups but can break down in solvent-heavy resin. Buy chip brushes in bulk, since resin ruins them and they are not worth cleaning.
