Cutting oxidation off gelcoat

Oxidized gelcoat comes back in stages. Start with a cutting compound and a wool or super cut pad (Shurhold Buff Magic, Meguiar's Power Cut, Starbrite rubbing compound for heavy oxidation), step down to a polish pad, then finish with a zero swirl pad and something lighter like Meguiar's One Step.

Shurhold's dual action polishers are the safer tool on a hull, because a random orbit is harder to burn gelcoat with than a rotary, and there are rotary-specific pads here when you want the faster cut. Pads run 7.5 inch on the quick change holder. Clean them with Serious Pad Cleaner between grades instead of dragging cut compound into your finish step.
