Mostly a connector problem
Fuel line work is mostly connectors. Moeller builds the EPA compliant assemblies with the primer bulb already fitted (3/8 inch universal 12 ft, 3/8 inch clip style for Mercury) and sells the engine and tank ends on their own for Suzuki, OMC, Chrysler and Force, which is what you want when the hose is fine and the fitting failed.
Use low permeation hose, not automotive fuel hose. Marine fuel line moved to low permeation construction (Sierra Shields, the 116-337 series) and ordinary fuel hose weeps vapor into a closed bilge. Size by inside diameter, so 5/16 and 3/8 inch are not interchangeable at the barb, and 1/8 and 3/16 inch lines are primer and bleeder circuits rather than supply.
